The Maine Center for Economic Policy's 7th tax and budget conference featured an array of speakers and panels. Governor Baldacci and Rebecca Wyke presented the Governor's 2008-2009 budget. Iris Lav, Deputy Director for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities from Washington, D.C., reviewed best practice state fiscal policies from around the nation. A panel representing researchers, economic development and workforce development presented a case for investment in the Maine economy. Maine Revenue Services presented their state and local tax incidence report followed by two legislative panels that discussed tax reform and a roadmap for moving forward.
