At-home aide crisis leaves Mainers to age alone, ‘die early’

“The direct care workforce in Maine is in a fragile state,” Maine Center for Economic Policy Analyst Josie Phillips said.

Phillips released a report this year which said the cost for at-home care services is on average more than $65,000. This is more than most families’ yearly income, yet neither traditional health insurance, nor Medicare, cover it.
