Direct Care Remains a Critical Workforce Challenge Friday April 29th, 2005 Lisa Pohlmann
One of the most significant workforce issues in Maine, now and for the
future, is the recruitment and retention of skilled frontline workers
who provide long term care for our elderly and disabled residents.
Since MECEP’s 2003 publication of Without Care: Maine’s Direct Care
Worker Shortage, we have continued to analyze the needs of this
workforce in coalition with long-term care providers, workers and
consumers. This Direct Care Worker Coalition now has 26 organizational
members.
