The Circuit Breaker Provides Relief for Maine's Property Tax Burden

Using recent Maine Revenue Services data, this report estimates the impact of the property tax “circuit breaker” in moderating property tax burdens for low- and moderate-income homeowners with high property tax burdens.

The circuit breaker could help even more households by raising the maximum refund and/or raising the amount of property tax that is eligible for benefits.
