MECEP believes that Maine families should have adequate food and shelter and be able to achieve long-term economic security through educational opportunities and livable wage employment.
in 2007, The Maine Legislature directed the Maine Department of Labor to adopt MECEP's livable wage methodology and annually measure, calculate and report the livable wages for various household groups. For the most recent livable wage statistics for every county in Maine please see below. A methodology that explains the calculations and data sources is also available on this page.
