Connie Zhu Joins MECEP Team

The Maine Center for Economic Policy (MECEP) today announced that it has hired Connie Zhu as an economic policy analyst.  Zhu served formerly as director of marketing at the Center for Cultural Exchange in Portland and as an account executive with Woodbury & Morse Advertising.  She received a B.A. in economics from the University of Southern Maine and an M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Oregon.

“Connie’s combination of a strong economics background, practical work experience and exceptional communications skills promises to be a tremendous asset to our organization,” said MECEP Executive Director Christopher “Kit” St. John. “She brings a new dimension to our staff that we believe will strengthen and expand our capacity to provide the research and policy analysis that is MECEP’s hallmark.”

A resident of Waterville, Zhu has worked as an instructor in Chinese and writing at Colby College, the University of Oregon and other colleges. Born and raised in Shanghai, Zhu has also worked as a free-lance interpreter of Chinese and a consultant for Maine companies developing business opportunities in China.
