In 15 of Maine’s 16 counties, a major health care provider is one of the top two employers. In 10 counties, between 1 in 5 jobs and 1 in 6 jobs are in health care. Because federal health care funds will be used to reimburse health care providers for their services, the economic benefits of accepting federal health care funds will be distributed throughout the state and provide a significant boost to local economies.
