Internships and Volunteering

The Maine Center for Economic Policy is not accepting intern applications at this time. Please check back another time.

The Maine Center for Economic Policy welcomes graduate and undergraduate student interns and students working on semester-long or thesis research projects that fit with MECEP’s mission. Interns have the opportunity to advance research skills, gain insight into the policymaking process, and build their knowledge and relationships within Maine’s nonprofit sector. Fellows work with trained economists and researchers to learn how to translate data into policy recommendations. They learn writing skills and economic modeling, and meet other nonprofit heads, lobbyists, and state and local government officials. The opportunities at MECEP are broad and can be tailored to the fellow’s interests.  Fellows interested in public policy, economics, social work, governmental affairs, advocacy, nonprofit management, or media/communications would find a relevant experience with MECEP. Student interns may be based in our Augusta office or may work from other locations. Activities include:

Student work is supervised by a master’s level policy analyst. Other supervision in the student’s related field may be arranged outside MECEP. Internships are generally unpaid. Interested applicants should submit a resume and writing sample to info@mecep.org.
