Amid mounting concerns, Maine considers excluding data centers from tax breaks

Maura Pillsbury, a policy analyst at the Maine Center for Economic Policy, said the companies behind data centers aren’t relying on tax incentives to afford to build these projects.

“We also know that data centers are owned by those tech companies, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft — and these companies already have the resources to make investments without these incentives,” she said.
