The bill, named the Inflation Reduction Act, was hailed by analysts in Maine, who said the tax and health care provisions would help create a more fair economy.
“The Inflation Reduction Act will ensure wealthy corporations making record profits pay their fair share,” said Megan Michaud, Vice President of Policy and Programs with the Maine Center for Economic Policy. “MECEP has long called for closing corporate tax loopholes and investing in efforts that benefit all of us and improve people’s lives and this legislation will do exactly that.”
