The Maine Center for Economic Policy also weighed in on the spending plan, which it called a “significant win for Maine families, especially those who struggled to make ends meet even before the pandemic.”

“We applaud the administration for putting surplus revenue to work for families,” the group said on Twitter. “We look forward to working with lawmakers to craft a budget that ensures all of us — regardless of race, background, or income — get to participate in the recovery.”
