Policy organization releases ‘Prosperity Budget’

Governor Janet Mills and her office continue to work on the state budget ahead of its due date. On Tuesday, the Maine Center for Economic Policy released its own state budget plan, focusing on prosperity.

On Tuesday, representatives from the Maine Center for Economic Policy released their prosperity budget. The proposal focuses on building a strong economy through progressive income tax reform.

“Over the last eight years, there really have been cutbacks at the state level which have shifted costs on to communities for education and local services,” said Maine Center for Economic Policy Executive Director Garrett Martin.
