Portland city councilors back an inclusive paid sick days policy

report from the Maine Center for Economic Policy highlights evidence that the workers who are paid the lowest in Maine are much more likely to receive no paid sick time benefits from their employers.

41 percent of Mainers paid between $12-18 an hour are not given paid sick time, while 67 percent of workers who make less than $12 an hour reported having no paid sick days, according to MECEP’s analysis of 2017 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
