The Economy is Gerrymandered, Too

For many Maine families, the economy no longer feels like something you can get ahead in. It feels like something you’re constantly trying to survive.

Ask people what’s gotten harder lately and the answers come fast: groceries, gas, the electric bill, the doctor’s visit, the rent. Healthcare premiums and medical bills rise faster than paychecks. Childcare and higher education strain household budgets before families can even think about saving for the future.
